Opportunities for Family Engagement

Family communication and partnership is an integral part of Trinity Lutheran Preschool’s program. The following is a list of some opportunities for families to become involved in their child’s preschool experience.

  • Family visits: families are invited to attend a session with their child to experience their preschoolers’ day.

  • Several times during the year we have special occasions and invite families to come celebrate with us.

  • We ask family members to come in and share a special talent, read a story, help with a party etc.

  • Families are invited to attend when we have special programs such as storytellers, regardless of the days the child attends.

  • Periodically we send projects home for children to complete and return to share with class and display.

  • The children have turns taking story bags and “Special Me” (show & tell) home throughout the year.

  • Positive Parent Board: Monthly, parents are given a seasonal cutout to write something positive about their child. This is returned to school and displayed on board in hallway for all to see.

  • Parents are given ideas monthly from the Family Fun Guide (RI Early Learning & Development Standards) to do at home with their child.

  • Monthly subscription of Scholastic’s Magazine Parent & Child is given to each family in our program.

  • Family surveys are distributed each year for feedback on our program.

  • Progress reports are distributed twice a year and parent conferences are offered.
